VisionSG has officially rejected the trial of the Designline Olymbus/Ecosaver IV electric bus, offered in May by ST Kinetics. Last day of service for the bus would be on 17th October 2011 on Service 890. The bus is estimated to be returned to ST Kinetics by the end of the month.
About the electric bus:
The Electric bus consumes no fossil fuels, generates zero emissions and is capable of operating for up to 120 miles on a single charge under high-density, stop-and-go, urban transit route conditions. The primary technical difference between the electric bus and the EcoSaver IV is that the electric bus replaces the APU with additional battery packs.
It uses the same proven and reliable drive train and other key configurations as the EcoSaver IV and provides all of the same benefits and advantages – with even further reduction of emissions, maintenance and noise.
Our Electric vehicle has a purchase price that is approximately $600,000 to $700,000 higher than a comparably-equipped standard diesel bus, but saves 100% of fuel costs and certain other operating costs over the life of the vehicle.
