The buses, each going off at more than $300,000, will feature a transverse, rear-mounted engine and a low floor throughout the length of the bus, the N-series is equipped with a Scania rigid front axle that is shared with other Scania products. The N270UD 10.7-metre double-deckers will be equipped with the Scania 9-litre engine that will feature 270hp that will meet the EEV requirements.
Automatic transmission comes as standard. The gearbox would be a 6-speed transmission supplied by ZF with an integrated retarder that provides ample braking power almost down to a standstill.
These buses are certified for an external noise level of 77 dBA, that will lower the amount of noise being let out from the engine and the transmission themselves.
When Scania Singapore delievered the first unit to VisionSG's headquarters at Punggol, the managing director of Scania Singapore Pte Ltd Mr James Armstrong had commented that these buses delivered to VisionSG are the first of the first N-series buses in Singapore, no one in Singapore has ever ordered a single N-series bus from Scania, and tried purchasing complete built-up buses, with the example of SBS Transit purchasing the K-series with kits to build in their engineering area, with complete built-up buses that are shipped from UK after being bodied by Optare with the Optare Olympus bodywork.
