VisionSG invests in low-cost buses

VisionSG invests in low-cost buses:

The next batch of buses that will enter the VisionSG Group are buses from Higer Bus Co. Ltd. Though it is more unfriendly for the disabled and elderly people, the cost of these buses are lower, which means lesser cash is needed to purchase these buses. It also means that the savings would me transferred to each and every passenger who boards buses from bus companies under the VisionSG Group of Companies. VisionSG will bring in 3 types of Higer buses, a model for midibus and two models for the normal-length buses.

Currently VisionSG only owns china-made buses from Yutong, King Long and Zhongtong. These are steps after SMRT and SBS Transit after they brought in Yutong, ZhongTong for SMRT and Higer for SBS Transit. Buses from China are under the low-cost section and we can save more compared to purchasing buses from the European manufacturers.

The model code for the buses that we are going to bring in are: KLQ6850G for the midibus, KLQ6108G and KLQ6121GQ for the normal-length buses.

LTA is still pending approval from VisionSG to bring in a CNG bus from Higer after a King Long CNG coach exploded few months back.

All buses will be equipped with an at least Euro 4, including AdBlue that is requested by the group, from Cummins, and an Ecomat 5HP592 gearbox from ZF.

CEO of VisionSG Group of Companies, Mr Lim Jia Xuan, commented that these steps may not necessarily be things that can be done when our fleet has to be renewed, as after all we have to care for the people who are not really able to climb that high to board the bus.
